KCRI is one of the three institutions of the Good Samaritan Foundation (GSF) who is the founder and owner of Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC). KCRI is lead by the KCRI board, which oversees KCRI activities; it receives, reviews and approves reports on research, training, and administrative activities of the Institute. The board recommends future strategies of the Institute; it helps to foster links with other institutions, and national and international collaborations. The board meets three times a year. The board consists of:

·         KCMC Executive Secretary (Chair)

·         KCM-College Provost

·         KCMC-Director of Hospital Services

·         KCM College Director of Postgraduate Studies

·         COSTECH Director General

·         MoH Director of Training

·         NIMR Director General

·         KCRI Director (Secretary)

 

In addition, there is a scientific board. The Scientific advisory board is composed of representatives from:

·         Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre (RUNMC)

·         Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)

·         University of Copenhagen (CMP)

·         Makerere University

·         University of London (LSHTM)

·         Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS)

KCRI has a management team. They meet weekly to discuss the general operations of the institute; the meeting is chaired by the KCRI Director. Weekly reports covering research, training, finance and administrative issues are discussed. The Team consists of the KCRI Director, Heads of the six KCRI departments, Administrative secretary, heads of units, and Research Coordinators.

The Director meets on a regular basis with project PIs, heads of departments, and programme coordinators to discuss issues pertaining to research and capacity building activities. The head of the department of research administration meets with research administrators weekly to follow up progress of research and implementation of weekly action plan.
