This meeting of the Africa-Canadian partnership on capacity building in HIV prevention and intervention research has its main goal to promote inter-team communications and collaboration among the seven GHRI-funded Canadian-African capacity building networks and the five CHVI/CIHR large team grant recipients.

Get ready for the 2nd synchronicity forum of CHVI-funded Canadian and African prevention and vaccine teams: Afri-Can Forum-2 to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa; 16-18th February 2015. This meeting of the Africa-Canadian partnership on capacity building in HIV prevention and intervention research has its main goal to promote inter-team communications and collaboration among the seven GHRI-funded Canadian-African capacity building networks and the five CHVI/CIHR large team grant recipients.

This forum is being organized in partnership with the following GHRI-funded capacity building teams:

  • Canada-Africa Prevention Trials Network (CAPT-N)
  • Kenya AIDS Vaccine Initiative (KAVI)
  • African Development of AIDS Prevention Trials (ADAPT2)
  • The TanZamBo Project
  • The Nigeria Team Project
  • The West Africa Platform for HIV Intervention Research (WAPHIR)
  • The Canada Sub-Saharan-Africa HIV/AIDS Network (CanSSA)

Attendance is open to Africans and Canadians involved in HIV prevention & vaccine research and capacity building.  There is no registration fee for delegates who are affiliated with Canada’s GHRI capacity building teams or the CHVI large study teams.  The GHRI/CHVI associated individuals whose abstracts are successfully selected will be fully funded. Young scientists from other funded programs on Health Capacity Building and HIV prevention networks are encouraged to apply. There will be 6 travel scholarships available (for those less than five years out of university and research trainees).
