The Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute (KCRI) is an academic Centre for evidence-based health interventions. The institute initiates and conducts medical research to develop evidences for interventions and provide research training and necessary research logistics to collaborators and partners.

KCRI in collaboration with the Duke University (GEMINI) Global Emergency Medicine Innovation and Implementation Research Center have received a training grant from US National Institute of Health (NIH) for the project titled TRECK Program: Trauma REsearch Capacity Building in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.  This training grant aims at building research capacity in the area of Trauma and Injury Research with the training of 2 doctoral (PhD) and 10 masters (MSc) scholarships over the next 5 years and establish an injury research network to support access to evidenced based quality trauma care.  The project is led by Prof. Blandina Mmbaga (KCRI) and Prof. Catherine Staton (Duke University).
