HAEMATOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY
Tests performed by the Haematology and Biochemistry Unit include:
- Haematology: Complete Blood Count (CBC) + Differentials
- Liver function Tests
- Electrolytes (Sodium Indirect, Potassium Indirect, Chloride Indirect, etc.)
- Lipid profile (Triglycerides, Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol and LDL-Cholesterol )
• Other analytes: Albumin, Creatinine, Creatinine Kinase, Bicarbonate, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphate, Urea/Bun, Gamma-Glutamyltransferase, Amylase, Lipase, Glucose, total protein, Bilirubin Direct, Lactate.
Instruments used:
- Cobas Integra 400 plus; a number of biochemical tests are performed on site using Cobas Integra, Rochel platform
- Cell Dyn 3500/ 3700 analysers for haematology
The unit participates in external quality proficiency assessments with the College of American Pathologists as its EQA provider. It has a good EQA performance track record.
