The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is a not for profit Parastatal Organization under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Tanzania that was enacted by the Parliament Act No. 23 of 1979. Through the Joint Malaria Programme (JMP) collaborative network between NIMR and other partners within Tanzania and Europe, NIMR has been conducting Biomedical Research all over Tanzania and beyond. Through the JMP collaborative network we are pleased to announce suitably qualified applicants for a PhD position. The successful PhD candidate will be registered at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College from February 2014 and conduct his/her field work in Korogwe.

New Postdoctoral Opportunity - Enviroment and Radiation Section - IARC LYON FRANCE
The Section of Environment and Radiation is currently offering a postdoctoral opportunity to work on the epidemiology of the high incidence esophageal cancer belt across East Africa. The work will include the descriptive epidemiology of this cancer in Africa, as well as verbal autopsy studies in high incidence areas and the coordination of prevalence studies of established risk factors.

UICC and IARC are offering a joint Development Fellowship Award in cancer epidemiology. The objective of this award is to allow one of the most promising participants of the IARC Summer School to return to IARC and spend a period of up to three months in one of IARC’s Research Groups to receive further training and/or to develop research collaboration.
